OTHER BUSINESS VENTURES & ACTIVITIES
My earliest work (1975 - 1983)
after
graduating from college and a year of sailing adventures was in the
field of real estate development in New York City and San Francisco with
an emphasis on renovation and conversion of older industrial buildings
to residential, commercial and cultural uses. After several years (1984
- 1986) traveling and working on film productions in Europe and a
couple of years (1986 - 1988) facilitating personal development programs, I settled in Santa
Fe, NM. The Planet Cafe was my first business venture there before
returning to the field of film production and other personal development
work. I also became involved with environmental and social justice issues locally and globally which includes my work with Global Relief Resources and a few organizations for which I have produced or managed events.
The following list begins with my current and most recent
activity.
DECORATIVE PRAYER FLAGS
Retail and wholesale of decorative flag sets, wall hangings and streamers via website displaying over 60 unique designs including mandalas and
thematic / archetypal images inspired from nature and diverse cultural
& sacred traditions. Every piece is beautifully hand-painted, batik style on rayon, produced by small-scale, Fair Trade shops in Bali, Indonesia.

GLOBAL RELIEF RESOURCES
Facilitated set-up of organizational
infrastructure and accounts, prepared program budgets and oversaw
internal operations. The work of Global Relief Resources (GRR) includes
supporting young women taking a stand against the practice of Female
Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Kenya, financing their post-secondary
education and planning rural community out-reach programs such as
drilling fresh water wells. Most recently, GRR has partnered with World
Hands Alliance to facilitate building reconstruction and provide fresh
water filtration systems in quake-damaged Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Developed and managed in partnership with Azlan White.

THE PLANET CAFE
60 - 90 seat community-spirited, macrobiotic and natural foods restaurant & juice bar featuring locally produced organic foods and many southeast Asian specialties. The food operations also included production of macrobiotic products for wholesale to natural foods markets in NM. In addition, the cafe offered a children's playroom, art
exhibits and a calendar of cabaret and community events featuring
inspiring local artists, musicians, performers, poets and other
presentations with a heart-centered, mystical or transformational focus. Developed in partnership with Janella Moore.

Initiated and managed tenant co-op and renovation / conversion of an 8-story warehouse building in New York City's landmark SoHo district to artist work-living lofts.

(Jamaica) and Buenos Aires - Rio de Janeiro Races.
